This broad red brims with dark berry, iodine and pepper flavors, lingering softly against modest tannins. Drink now through 2013.' – Harvey Steiman, www.winespectator.com

Cork'd - 92 points
'The 2009 Mollydooker Scooter Merlot is not your typical Merlot. In fact, it is not like any Merlot that I have tasted. The Scooter offers a richer experience than a typical California Merlot and in a blind tasting you would not pick it as a Merlot. The wine has dense fruit characteristics with integrated tannins and a long finish. This would be a perfect partner with roast leg of lamb and mint jelly. The flavor profile includes hints of black olives, licorice, spice and plum. It has a shiraz-like mouthfeel but with a unique finish that draws me in for another sip. I think the wine could actually benefit from 1-2 years of aging in the cellar to expose its true Merlot characteristics. Anyone looking for a bold, concentrated Merlot at the $25 price point will not be disappointed.' - Brian Pasch, www.corkd.com
