'Aged in 77% American oak and 33% French, 49% new, the 2009 The Maitre d’ Cabernet Sauvignon has a very deep garnet-purple color. It presents intense cassis, vanilla and choco-mint notes with hints bay leaf and cedar. Full-bodied with medium-firm grainy tannins and medium-high acid, it provides ample flesh if slightly simple, finishing long. 'The 2009 Mollydooker The Maitre D' is 100% Cabernet sourced from the Mollydooker Home Vineyard in Adelaide and vineyards in Padthaway. The aromatics on this Cabernet were intense; they lured me into the glass and made my mouth water. I picked up hints of dark cherry, currants and jam on the nose.

The 2009 Maitre D' had a very long finish, with integrated tannins which makes the wine ready to enjoy today but it has the structure to age gracefully for 10+ years. The wine had a very pure Cabernet profile that was not muddied with conflicting flavors.
I have not been impressed with too many Cabernet's from Australia in the $25 price category but this is a game changer. The fruit intensity of the Maitre D' will satisfy the most demanding Cabernet fan.' - Brian Pasch, www.corkd.com
