2008 The Boxer

One of the absolute favourites among our Lefty wines. This year, hints of the Blue Eyed Boy make themselves known on the nose and the palate. With aromas of blueberry, raspberry, violets, cedar and tobacco, it has a kaleidoscope of flavours that explode in your mouth with layers of blackberry, licorice, and spicy sweet fruit. Super-rich and opulent with a lingering finish of dark fruit and vanilla-oak. There’s a reason everyone asks for The Boxer by name. Incredible power and purity. Incredible Shiraz at an unbeatable price.
This wine is lovely to drink now, especially after a good Mollydooker Shake, though it will easily cellar for years to come.

The 2007 Boxer was awarded 93 points by Jay Miller at The Wine Advocate and 90 points by Harvey Steiman at the Wine Spectator and chosen as one of the "Editor's Most Exciting New Wines"! The 2006 was an enormous hit, after receiving 94 points by Jay Miller at The Wine Advocate and chosen as the 3rd Best Value Red Wine from Australia by Harvey Steiman at The Wine Spectator with 90 points!

Sparky’s favorite: grilled rib-eye steak with sweet carrot puree and a creamy horseradish or red wine sauce. All our Shiraz wines go well with just about any savoury, full-flavoured meats such as roasted lamb, beef short ribs or even spice-rubbed or BBQ chicken. They are also complimented by aged, hard cheeses, or soft blues and is especially delicious with dried cherries, salted marcona almonds and milk chocolate cake!
